[CA] CALPADS: Differentiated Assistance
California's Department of Education recently shared updates regarding the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) Differentiated Assistance (DA). Here's a summary of the key points:
What is CALPADS Differentiated Assistance?
CALPADS DA is a support mechanism for districts and County Offices of Education (COEs) that face challenges in submitting accurate and timely data to the CALPADS system. It aims to improve data management and reporting practices.
Key Legislation
- Senate Bill (SB) 114 (2023) mandates technical assistance for districts and COEs that do not meet CALPADS data requirements.
- Compliance is governed by California Education Code Sections 52071 and 52071.5.
Eligibility Criteria
-
2023–24 Academic Year
- DA eligibility applied to districts/COEs failing to certify End of Year (EOY) data submissions.
- No districts/COEs were eligible in this first year.
-
2024–25 Academic Year
- Any LEA failing to meet certification deadlines for Fall 1, Fall 2, or EOY data submissions becomes eligible.
-
2025–26 Academic Year
- Additional focus on data quality.
- Districts/COEs with unresolved data quality issues will also be eligible.
Best Practices for Data Submission
- Aim for zero fatal errors before certification deadlines.
- Allow sufficient time to review and correct data to ensure accuracy.
