  • EDCS Overview:

    • The EDCS is designed to facilitate the collection of data for temporary programs or evaluations for potential inclusion in CALPADS. This integrated system allows for a more unified approach to handling special data collections, improving efficiency and accessibility.

  • Transition to EDCS:

    • Previously separate systems for ASVAB and other data collections are being consolidated into EDCS. For the 2023–24 collection year, both ASVAB and SSCE data will be collected through EDCS, streamlining the process and reducing the number of systems LEAs need to manage.

  • Accessing EDCS:

    • CALPADS LEA Administrators have been granted initial access to EDCS. These administrators or designated staff members can log in and manage data submissions. Requests for additional access must be emailed to the CDE with details including the staff's name, position, and contact information.

  • Submission Windows and Procedures:

    • Both ASVAB and SSCE have the same submission window from May 1, 2024, through August 31, 2024. This timeline allows LEAs to organize and submit required data effectively, including post-summer graduates for the SSCE.

  • ASVAB Collection Specifics:

    • The process for submitting ASVAB results remains unchanged, except for the shift to the EDCS platform. LEAs should ensure that ASVAB results include all necessary student identifiers and coordinate the data submission through EDCS.

  • SSCE Data Submission Details:

    • LEAs participating in the SSCE program are requested to submit details of students who earned the SSCE in 2023–24, including their identifiers and the document type to which the seal was affixed.

  • Continued Support and Resources:

    • The CDE has provided detailed instructions and support resources on the EDCS access and usage, which are accessible via dedicated links.

This update to the CALPADS system by incorporating EDCS reflects a significant improvement in data management and reporting processes for LEAs, aiming to reduce complexity and increase the efficiency of data submissions related to educational achievements and recognitions.
