The California Department of Education (CDE) is introducing significant updates to the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System and English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), along with a redesign of the associated Student Score Reports (SSRs). Here are the essential updates and opportunities related to these assessments:
-
Redesigned Student Score Reports (SSRs) for CAASPP/ELPAC:
- Enhanced Format and Accessibility: The SSRs for both CAASPP and ELPAC have been redesigned to improve usability and comprehension. The new format features a more intuitive layout and organization, making it easier for students and families to understand test results.
- Detailed Academic Insights: The reports now include detailed results for English language arts/literacy and mathematics. Notably, they incorporate Lexile® and Quantile® measures, providing more precise information about students' reading and math skills.
- Enhanced Comparison Tools: Families can now access enhanced tools for result comparisons, helping them track progress over time and understand their child’s academic standing relative to standards.
- Additional Resources: Updated SSRs offer quick links to further information and resources, aiding families in supporting their children's education.
- Accessible Online: The redesigned SSRs and additional resources are available through the Starting Smarter CAASPP and Starting Smarter ELPAC websites, which have also been updated to reflect these enhancements.
-
Resources for Communication:
- Educational Materials: The CDE has developed various resources to assist educators and schools in communicating the changes in SSRs to families. These include key messages, flyers, and guides that outline the updates and benefits of the new report formats.
-
