The California Department of Education (CDE) has released the August 15, 2025, CALPADS Digest, providing crucial updates and clarifications for Local Educational Agencies (LEAs). This digest covers important changes to the submission calendar, training registration, reporting protocols, and more, all designed to improve data accuracy and efficiency. LEAs must review these changes to ensure timely compliance with state reporting requirements.
The official 2025–26 Fall and End-of-Year (EOY) Submission Windows are now available on the CALPADS Calendar page. LEAs are strongly encouraged to review the zero-error deadlines for each certification window. Meeting these deadlines is critical for ensuring the integrity and timeliness of all reported data.
For the upcoming Fall 1 2025–26 training, the CDE has transitioned to a new platform: the CSIS Training Registration system. This new system, accessible at https://csis.fcmat.org/csis-training, offers significant improvements over the previous platform. Most notably, it removes the two-user limit per LEA, allowing an unlimited number of staff to register for training sessions (subject to Zoom capacity). The new platform also eliminates the need for a login and provides a comprehensive view of all available training sessions in a single location, simplifying the registration process. To assist with this transition, a short 3-minute tutorial video is available to guide users through the new system's features.
Effective August 5, 2025, CALPADS has updated its report naming conventions. ODS Reports are now known as RealTime Reports, while Snapshot Reports are now called Certification Reports. This change reflects a major system enhancement: reports are now generated in real time, eliminating the previous overnight delay for data refreshes. All reports remain in their familiar locations within the system.
A key policy clarification concerns the reporting of Homeroom and Study Hall courses. The updated FAQ clarifies that courses coded 9217 (Homeroom - Credit) must be reported and require the assigned teacher to hold a full teaching credential. Conversely, reporting for courses with code 9207 (Homeroom - No Credit) is optional, leaving the decision to local LEA discretion.
Charter schools should be aware of the annual reporting status change window, which is open from July 1 to August 31. Any changes must be submitted via the Charter Reporting Status Change Form to calpads@cde.ca.gov by the August 31 deadline. Submissions received after this date will not be processed for the current school year.
Please note that the CALPADS Service Desk will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, in observance of Labor Day.
