[CA] CCGI Update Flash #4 - CCGI Requirements for all High Schools
The California Department of Education (CDE) issued CCGI Flash #4 on September 29, 2025, highlighting upcoming requirements for all Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) serving students in grades 9–12. The flash provides critical reminders about statutory deadlines, introduces a new vendor compliance resource, and outlines expectations for Student Information System (SIS) vendors supporting the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI).
Statutory Requirements for LEAs
As mandated by California Education Code Section 60900(f), all LEAs (including charter schools) serving students in grades 9–12 must:
-
Enter a data sharing agreement with CCGI by January 1, 2026
-
Provide an initial data file by June 30, 2026
-
Complete onboarding so students can access transcript-informed Partner Accounts on CaliforniaColleges.edu that update regularly with district-provided data
This requirement applies regardless of SIS usage or SIS compliance. LEAs must ensure data is submitted in compliance with standards set by CCGI.
Benefits of Transcript-Informed Partner Accounts
These accounts empower students and educators by:
-
Tracking progress toward CSU/UC eligibility
-
Providing direct integration with California public college applications
-
Offering personalized college and career planning tools
LEAs not yet partnered with CCGI are encouraged to contact the team via CaliforniaColleges.edu to begin the onboarding process.
SIS Vendor Compliance Matrix
A new CCGI SIS Vendor and Product Capabilities Matrix is now available on the CSIS website. This matrix tracks each SIS vendor’s progress toward meeting CCGI data requirements, including:
-
Required and additional data elements for transcript-informed accounts
-
Support for automated file submission via API or extract
-
Fee waivers for small vendors
-
CCGI compatibility certification status
The matrix will be updated regularly to reflect vendor progress and compliance.
What Vendors Must Do to Be CCGI-Compatible
Vendors serving California high schools must:
-
Map SIS fields to CCGI’s required and optional data elements
-
Develop an automated method (API or extract) for transmitting data to CCGI
-
Small vendors may request a waiver from this requirement
-
-
Avoid passing costs related to CCGI compliance on to LEAs
Only vendors who meet these standards will be marked as “Compliant” in the matrix.
SIS vendors have been informed that completing these tasks by January 1, 2026 will support LEAs in meeting their June 30, 2026 obligations.
